Rose BowlRose Bowl

The Rose Bowl originally was played at Pasadena's Tournament Park. The game has been held in California in all but one year. After the attacks on Pearl Harbor, the game was moved to Durham, North Carolina's Wallace Wade Stadium on the campus of Duke University in 1942.Built in 1922 only a few miles away from Tournament Park, Rose Bowl Stadium has hosted five Super Bowls and two World Cups, along with a plethora of historic college football games. Home to the UCLA Bruins, the legendary stadium originally had an open end and sat 57,000 fans. The south end was closed in 1928 to deal with the game's immense popularity. In 1973, a record 106,869 fans bought Rose Bowl tickets and packed into the Rose Bowl Stadium to see Southern California take care of the Ohio State Buckeyes 42-17. It would be the first of three consecutive years the Trojans and the Buckeyes would meet in the Rose Bowl. Current capacity at Rose Bowl Stadium is approximately 93,000.
