Cotton Bowl
Cotton Bowl Stadium in Fair Park is a legendary site in college football history. As the site of the Cotton Bowl Classis since its inception, Cotton Bowl Stadium has seen more than its share of great moments. The current stadium is the second stadium to occupy the site. The first, opened in 1921, seated 15,00 and was used for local events and football games. Named the Fair Park Football Stadium, it experienced its first football sellout in 1923 in a game between Baylor and Southern Methodist University. The current Cotton Bowl Stadium was completed in 1930. Originally named the Fair Park Bowl, the site was renamed Cotton Bowl Stadium to coincide with the playing of the first Cotton Bowl Game between TCU and Marquette on January 1, 1937.
